Patriotic Millionaires Canada encourages Canada to join the Seville Platform for Action on taxing the super rich.

Canada – In response to the July 1st announcement that Spain, Brazil, and South Africa are launching a new global coalition to tax the super rich at the fourth Financing for Development Conference in Seville, Patriotic Millionaires Canada, a recently announced organization that brings together wealthy Canadians who are concerned about economic inequality and advocate for policies to effectively tax the ultra-rich, is encouraging Canada to formally join the initiative.

“The Seville Platform for Action on taxing the super rich is an opportunity for countries around the world who want to lead on reducing inequality and fighting tax evasion and avoidance to collaborate on and commit to innovative policy solutions that other countries can model, and identify gaps in the tax system. The only question is: Does Canada want to be one of those leaders? Or does it want to allow inequality to spiral out of control and threaten our economy and democracy like it already has in the US?” said Dylan Dusseault, Executive Director of Patriotic Millionaires Canada. “It feels appropriate to me that this initiative was launched on Canada Day. This is a chance to protect the Canadian values of community and collective action, of ensuring everyone in our country can be safe and stable. It’s a chance to push back against the demands of the homegrown Oligarchs who want to hoard wealth on the back of public investments and never reinvest”
